Rodríguez belts 2 home runs, Walleye Move to 52-20
|
The Walla Walla Walleye topped the South Beach Blaze by the score of 4-1, with the largest share of the credit going to right fielder Andrés Rodríguez. Rodríguez went 2-2 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Walleye. Walla Walla starter Miguel Ávila was credited with the win after throwing 73 pitches over 7 innings. His record now stands at 3-0. Jasper Jordan converted his 12th save in 13 tries.
Rodríguez had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a first pitch curveball from Kuang-yin Tsou, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Walleye a 2-0 lead. It was the 8th home run of the year for Rodríguez.
Rodríguez called the triumph "a good team win."
