Late Rally by 1787 BC Secures Win
|
Valley pitcher Kieran Long gave the 1787 BC all they could handle, but in the end, Delaware left The Heron Refuge with a 5-3 win. Long allowed 1 earned run on 7 hits over 6.2 innings. Kent Phillips was the winning pitcher. Over 8 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 6 hits, with 1 walk and 1 strikeout. Einar Engberg earned the save for Delaware, his 1st.
Anass Balfakir helped out the Delaware cause in the top of the eighth inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the designated hitter went 1 for 4. He drove in 2 runs.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Balfakir said after the game.
