Guzzlers Drop Another One
|
The Mancelona Torch picked up a win at Torch Field, knocking off the Galesburg Guzzlers, 8-4. On the mound for Mancelona was right-hander Enrique Cruz, who played a pivotal role in the win. Cruz picked up the win for Mancelona, going 7.2 innings. He gave up 4 runs on 10 hits. He now sports a record of 6-3. The last-place Guzzlers have lost 5 straight games.
A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the seventh inning when the Torch sent teenager Charles Godard to the plate against Guzzlers hurler Aletona Kylie. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 0-1 fastball to score 2.
"We did more than enough to get the win," said Cruz.
