Mango Top Generals, 8-6
|
The Provo Mango trumped the Washington Generals, 8-6, at Mango Yard. Provo first baseman Louis Tison was named player of the game for his performance. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The save was credited to Román Ornelas, his 7th. Provo is now 31-32, while Washington is 28-35.
Nicol van Gorp had a big 2-run double for the Mango in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Provo leading 6-5 and runners on 1st and 3rd, he got a fastball from Curt Coffey and stroked the double to left-center. It was his 11th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mango ahead, 8-5.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Mango manager Tony Hernández. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
