Blaze Come Up Short at Mancelona
|
The Mancelona Torch got a stellar effort from pitcher John Penton, helping Mancelona score a 3-2 win over the visiting South Beach Blaze. Penton, the winner, moves to 2-8. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 2 walks. Raúl Hinojosa, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save.
Early in the game, designated hitter Charles Godard had a run-scoring double for Mancelona. It was his 10th double of the season and put the Torch on top, 1-0.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Penton told the Mancelona Herald.
Mancelona is now 25-37.
