Getting a good performance from first baseman Stuart Janssen, the Valley Blue Sox defeated the Mancelona Torch, 9-2. Janssen was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Blue Sox. Gao Mar, credited with the win, is now 2-0. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits in 5.1 innings. Jesús Vásquez recorded his 1st save for Valley.
Janssen was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 against the Torch. In the top of the first inning, he reached on an error by the SS, driving in 1 run that scored 1 and put Valley in front, 1-0.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Janssen told the Valley Observer. "It's as simple as that."
