Penton Dazzles in Mancelona Win
|
The Mancelona Torch went home winners at Torch Field, thanks in large part to starter John Penton. Penton silenced the Valley Blue Sox, enabling Mancelona to grab the 2-1 win. Even with the win, the Torch have a dismal 12-25 record.
Penton was in the zone all game. He frustrated Valley hitters while giving the Torch 7 innings of quality work. Penton threw 93 pitches, allowing 3 hits and getting 8 punchouts.
In postgame comments to the Mancelona Herald, Penton said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
