Walleye Reel Off Another Win
|
The Walla Walla Walleye picked up a win at The Ballpark on the Beach, knocking off the South Beach Blaze, 6-1. Starting pitcher Edward Bergeron played a key role in the triumph. In 7.1 innings, Bergeron surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 10 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Walla Walla leads the Premier A by 3 games.
Germán Gracía's at-bat in the top of the sixth inning was a big one for Walla Walla. Coming to bat with two out, the bases loaded and Walla Walla leading 2-0, the designated hitter hit a 2-run single.
"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Bergeron. "Successful pitchers do it."
