Torch Get Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
South Beach pitcher Shalom Levasier gave the Torch all they could handle, but in the end, Mancelona left The Ballpark on the Beach with a 2-0 win. Levasier allowed 2 earned runs on 5 hits over 5.2 innings. Earning his 1st save of the year was Melvin Conner. The Torch have stumbled out of the gate, getting only their 5th win in 15 games.
Tied up with the Blaze in the top of the fifth inning, the Torch got a boost from third baseman Vasa Pantelic. With a runner on 1st, Pantelic saw a 2-1 fastball from Shalom Levasier and hit a 2-run home run to break the stalemate and put Mancelona on top, 2-0.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Mancelona manager Taylor Whitney.
