Syracuse turned a good effort from starter Jesús Cruz into a win over the Connetquot Chiefs at Storm Park. The final score was 15-2. Syracuse has an impressive 42-19 record.

The standout performance belonged to 19-year-old Cruz. With his baby face, he looked more like someone starting for a high school team than for the Storm. His performance, however, was nothing short of top-notch. The youngster dominated the Chiefs, striking out 10 and scattering 3 hits over 9 innings. Cruz is now 1-1 on the season.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Cruz said.
