5-2 Black Cats Win over Chiefs Evens Season Record
|
Getting a good performance from shortstop Curt Taylor, the Gwinnett County Black Cats defeated the Connetquot Chiefs, 5-2. Taylor went 2-3 with a double, a walk, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Black Cats. Lawrence Swift picked up the win, improving his season record to 3-4. He struck out 4 in 6.1 innings. The Black Cats now have a mark of 22-22.
The Black Cats got a big at-bat from left fielder Jon Ellender. For the game, Ellender was 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 8th double of the season gave Gwinnett County a 3-1 lead.
