Niagara Falls withstood an impressive performance by Phoenix designated hitter Eugene McClellan to defeat the Hotspur U-21, 7-6, at Hotspur Kiddie Complex. McClellan went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Niagara Falls reliever Miguel Longoria picked up the win to move to 1-0. Umebayashi Naofumi suffered the loss. Phoenix, at 22-21, has lost 4 straight.
Also making an impact was second baseman Francisco Rodríguez, who drilled a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning for the Expos. For the game, Rodríguez went 2 for 4 with a triple and a walk.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Rodríguez said after the game.
