Chiefs Continue Skid Thanks to Reed, Dragonblood
|
The Yellowknife Dragonblood defeated the Connetquot Chiefs, 10-1. Earning player of the game honors was center fielder Jeff Reed, who was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4. Carl MacPherson, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 9 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 8. His record now stands at 5-2. The Dragonblood, now 28-12, have won 8 in a row.
The Dragonblood got a lift from first baseman Andy Garnet who had a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first inning off John Bennett. It was his 18th walk of the season and put Yellowknife in front, 1-0.
"We were firing on all cylinders today," said Dragonblood manager Andha Gangulee.
