Storm Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
The Syracuse Storm topped the Gwinnett County Black Cats, 6-1, with youngster Tom Burton playing a key role. Burton was 4 for 5 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for the Storm in the win. Syracuse reliever Víctor Rodríguez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Víctor Deleón absorbed the loss. Naozane Nakamura earned his 1st save in 2 tries.
Adrián Medina was 1 for 5 for Syracuse. The 23-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Víctor Deleón. It was his 18th RBI of the season.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Burton said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
Syracuse has an impressive 27-11 record.
