In a low-scoring clash between Syracuse and Phoenix, pitcher Keith Belcher was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned player of the game honors for Syracuse in the 3-2 win. Pancho Chacón picked up the save for Syracuse, his 5th of the year. Syracuse leads the Silver A by 3½ games.
Dale Goodman, who is tied for 2nd in the SA in hits with 37, helped out the Syracuse cause in the bottom of the fourth inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the center fielder was 3-5 with 3 singles.
"It's a mindset," said Belcher. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."
