Méndez on Fire, Strikes out 15 Chiefs
|
Kennesaw Jets starter Ernesto Méndez brought his best stuff to Jets Stadium today against the Connetquot Chiefs, striking out 15 batters in his club's 10-2 victory.
In a strong performance, the 24-year-old Méndez gave up 6 hits in his 9 innings of work and issued no walks.
"I felt good out there," he said after the game. "My fastball had a lot of life and my change up was sharp. It was giving hitters fits and working well for me."
So far this year Méndez has made 5 starts, tossed 39.2 innings, struck out 37 batters and walked 12. His record is 3-1 with a 3.18 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .243 batting average.
