The Yellowknife Dragonblood got a magnificent performance from pitcher Erik Illescas, who muffled the Syracuse offense en route to a tight 1-0 Dragonblood win at The Dragon Den. Doug Lane closed it out for his 4th save. Yellowknife, at 9-2, is off to a blistering start.

Tom Matthews was 1-2 for Yellowknife. The 22-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Joe Holland. It was his 2nd RBI of the season.

"We played hard and won," said Illescas. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
