The Nebraska Plainsmen faced a tough opponent in Kennesaw pitcher Owen Schultz, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Plain Old Stadium by a final score of 5-4. Schultz went 6.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Morton Steele picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Suhaila Zainuddin was tagged with the loss. Nebraska, now 6-4, has gotten their season off to a good start.

Greg Kelly was the walk-off hero for Nebraska. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Plainsmen center fielder hit a dramatic solo home run to send the teams home.

"Put a star next to this win," Kelly said.
