Reapers Win at Columbia, 5-2
|
The Grim Reapers got a stellar performance from pitcher Jerry Hamm, who handcuffed the Columbia offense en route to a 5-2 win at Columbia Stadium. Hamm went 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 0, and struck out 6. His record improves to 4-3. Jerry Magee earned his 22nd save in 28 chances.
Guo-liang Ye's at-bat in the top of the fifth inning was a big one for Grim. Coming to bat with one out, the bases loaded and Grim leading 2-1, the third baseman reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run.
"We'll savor this win," Hamm told the Grim Daily, "then get ready for the next game."
The Reapers now have a mark of 42-41.
