Victory Over Caterpillars Takes Columbia to 32-20
|
The Columbia River Rats topped the Grand Forks Caterpillars by the score of 7-1, with the largest share of the credit going to catcher Marcos Martínez. Martínez was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for the River Rats. Alberto Ortíz got the win, improving to 6-2. He worked 7.1 innings, giving up 1 run on 7 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. Columbia is now 32-20.
Martínez had a key at-bat for Columbia early in the game. With the bases loaded, he hit a grand slam home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and gave Columbia an early 4-0 lead.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said River Rats manager Greg Keys, "I like our chances."
