River Rats Stymie Rocky Mountain, Take 4-1 Win
|
The Columbia River Rats picked up a win at Columbia Stadium, knocking off the Rocky Mountain Vibes, 4-1. Starting pitcher Gerrit Zuidgeest, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. In 7 innings, Zuidgeest surrendered 2 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Columbia occupies 4th place in the Menard's A at 17-13.
José Palma helped out the Columbia cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring triple. For the game, the shortstop went 1-2 with a triple and was hit by a pitch.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Palma said.
