Silver Sox Edge Shooters, 9-8

The Reno Silver Sox defeated the Springfield Shooters, 9-8, at Tennille Grounds today. Leading the charge for Reno was center fielder Rob Brooks. He was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Reno reliever Raúl Valdéz was credited with the win, to go to 4-1. Ron Mingo took the loss for Springfield. Hans Rager earned the save for Reno, his 18th of the year.
Had Brooks not come through in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Brooks drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Silver Sox never looked back after taking the 9-8 lead.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Brooks. "And not try to do too much."
Reno, now 50-47, holds 4th place in the Premier AA.
