Thrilling Victory Pushes Sonics Win Streak to 6
|
The Atlantic City Sonics bested the Chesapeake Continentals, 6-3, at Sonics Ballpark. Alejandro Sánchez was named player of the game. He was 1 for 1 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Butch Cummings got credit for the win, improving to 6-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings. The save was credited to Amando Codes, his 23rd.
Sánchez had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 2-1 cutter from Raúl Romero, he banged a grand slam home run to right, giving the Sonics a 6-3 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for Sánchez.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Sánchez.
Atlantic City has now won 6 straight.
