Burns Lifts Silver Sox to 10-7 Triumph
With second baseman Roy Burns leading the charge, the Reno Silver Sox defeated the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats, 10-7, at Heron Field. Burns, who is tied for 4th in the PAA with a .326 batting average, went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 times and driving in 4. The winner was Reno reliever Herman Guevera, now 4-2. The loser was Harry Stogsdill. Hans Rager earned the save for Reno, his 14th of the year.

Burns had a game-changing single in the top of the ninth. On a full count fastball from Harry Stogsdill, he banged a run-scoring single to center, giving the Silver Sox a 8-7 lead. It was the 89th hit of the year for Burns.

In comments to the Reno Herald, Burns insisted that he's not as disinterested as it often appears. "Haters will hate," he added.

Reno is 40-34 and Lake Minnetonka, with the loss, 29-45.
