Screaming Eagles Win at Springfield, 4-3
|
Mercer Island starter Ingo Abresch pitched effectively against the Springfield Shooters at Springfield Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a 4-3 win. Abresch went 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2. His record improves to 3-3. Esteban Miroz was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 7 of 8 save opportunities.
The Screaming Eagles got a big at-bat from designated hitter Oliver Burrell. For the game, Burrell went 2 for 4 with a double. In the top of the fifth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 40th hit of the season gave Mercer Island a 3-2 lead.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Burrell said.
The first-place Screaming Eagles have a one-game lead in their division.
