Big Day for Bothof as Fur Traders Down Shooters, 8-5
|
The Tacoma Fur Traders relied on the hitting of center fielder Sinclair Bothof to stop the Springfield Shooters, 8-5. For the game, Bothof went 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Tacoma reliever Orlando Peralta picked up the win to move to 1-1. Ron Mingo suffered the loss. Tacoma is now 33-36, Springfield 27-42.
Bothof had a game-changing home run in the top of the ninth. On a first pitch fastball from Ron Mingo, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Fur Traders a 6-5 lead. It was the 18th home run of the year for Bothof.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Bothof told the Tacoma Daily News.
