Screaming Eagles Knock Off Fur Traders at Ballpark of Tacoma
|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles topped the Tacoma Fur Traders by the score of 10-5, with the biggest share of the credit going to shortstop Ed Bowers. Bowers went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for the Screaming Eagles on the day. Darren Minich got the win, improving to 6-5. He worked 6 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 2. Esteban Miroz was called on to finish, recording his 4th save.
Oliver Burrell had a clutch at-bat with no one out in the top of the sixth for the Screaming Eagles. Coming up with runners on 1st and 2nd and Mercer Island trailing 4-3, he hit a 3-run home run.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Mercer Island manager Omer van Osch.
The Fur Traders, at 29-32, have lost 4 in a row.
