Fur Traders Come Back Late to Top Love Boats
|
The Lake Minnetonka Love Boats got a superb performance from pitcher Dennis Blanchard, but the Tacoma Fur Traders still won the game, 6-4. Blanchard was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. Tacoma reliever Anthony Lang was the winner. His record is now 3-1. The losing pitcher was Inaki Maira. Getting the save was Jeffrey Chesser, his 17th.
Tacoma took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With no one out, pinch hitter Gilberto Chávez hit a grand slam home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Chávez told the Tacoma Daily News. "It's as simple as that."
The Fur Traders, at 29-28, have now won 5 straight.
