Continentals Win at Springfield, 5-2
|
Chesapeake starter Tex Fountas pitched effectively against the Springfield Shooters at Springfield Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a 5-2 win. Fountas went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 5-2. Tom King, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 4th save.
Santiago Valentín, who is tied for 10th in the PAA in runs scored with 37, helped out the Chesapeake cause in the top of the third inning with a 2-run home run. For the game, the right fielder was 1 for 5 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Valentín told the Chesapeake Citizen.
The Continentals now have a mark of 28-29.
