Screaming Eagles Fall Short at Reno
|
Reno Silver Sox starter Jeff Merritt was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 4-3. The winner was Jim Gunther in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Esteban Miroz took the loss. With the win, Reno has a record of 27-23. Mercer Island falls to 32-18.
Roy Burns was the walk-off hero for Reno. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Silver Sox second baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Mercer Island manager Omer van Osch.
