Fur Traders Can't Finish, Lose 6-4
|
Fans who gathered at Ballpark of Tacoma saw a good contest between the Springfield Shooters and Tacoma Fur Traders.
Despite a great performance by Tacoma shortstop Bill Perkins, the Springfield Shooters defeated the Fur Traders by the score of 6-4 at Ballpark of Tacoma. Perkins went 2 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Springfield reliever Jung-won Ping picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-1. Jeffrey Chesser was collared with the loss.
Late-game drama came in the top of the ninth inning. With no one out and the bases empty, the batter, Gianni Martin, hit a single. It helped Springfield seize the win.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Martin told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
Springfield is now 14-21, Tacoma 17-18.
