Fur Traders Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Shooters
|
It was a fun time at Ballpark of Tacoma, where the Springfield Shooters and Tacoma Fur Traders tangled.
Tacoma beat Springfield at Ballpark of Tacoma, eking out a 2-1 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Álex Hernández, who earned player of the game honors. Hernández, the winner, moves to 3-2. He threw 6.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 4 walks. Jeffrey Chesser closed the game out for Tacoma, earning his 8th save.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 3rd and two out in the bottom of the fifth inning. That's when left fielder Alejandro Aquilera hit a run-scoring single. The Fur Traders went on to win.
"It was a solid team effort," said Aquilera after the game.
Tacoma goes to 17-17, Springfield to 13-21.
