Silver Sox Jolt Shooters with Late Rally

Getting a good performance from first baseman Armando Romero, the Reno Silver Sox defeated the Springfield Shooters, 5-3. Romero went 2 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once for the Silver Sox. Reno reliever Aaron Houchens picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ricardo Pérez shouldered the loss. Getting the save was Dan Fletcher, his 1st.
Romero had a game-changing home run in the top of the eighth. On a 2-1 cutter from Ricardo Pérez, he banged a 3-run home run to left, giving the Silver Sox a 5-3 lead. It was the 2nd home run of the year for Romero.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Romero told reporters after the game.
Reno is now 15-12, while Springfield is 11-16.
