The inspired effort of Lake Minnetonka third baseman Ed St. James was not enough to prevent a 5-4 loss to the Springfield Shooters. St. James went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Hildebrand Michielsen was the winner. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 4 strikeouts. Branlyn Jaraba nailed down his 6th save.
The Shooters got a lift from catcher Bastiaan Pieterse who had a run-scoring walk in the top of the fourth inning off Alejandro García. It was his 7th walk of the season and put Springfield in front, 1-0.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Pieterse told a Springfield Chronicle reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
With the win, Springfield has a record of 9-13. Lake Minnetonka falls to 4-18.
