Screaming Eagles Solve Fur Traders, 6-3
|
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles racked up a win at Mercer Island Grounds, bumping off the Tacoma Fur Traders, 6-3. Ingo Abresch, who started for Mercer Island, pitched effectively for his team. The win brings the Screaming Eagles to 3-8, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
Oliver Burrell went 1-3 for Mercer Island. The 26-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Aiden Dubhghall. It was his 4th RBI of the season.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Abresch told a Mercer Island Citizen reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
