Longnecks Clip Golden Cranes in Tight Contest
The Bloomington Longnecks got a stellar performance from pitcher John Walton, who handcuffed the Santa Barbara offense en route to a 7-2 win at Crane Field. Bloomington reliever Geoff Stackhouse picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Francisco Sandoval was collared with the loss. Bloomington, at 49-52, occupies 6th place in the Premier AAA.

Had Bastiaan Pieterse not delivered a key base hit in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Pieterse hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Longnecks.

"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Pieterse.
