Supernovas Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Men
|
The Scranton Supernovas beat the Florida Men, 10-2, at Psychos Ballpark. The Supernovas got a fine performance from shortstop Augusto Escobar, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 4 with 2 singles and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. The Supernovas saw their win-loss record go to 49-49. At the same time, the Men fell to 34-64.
Chase Popoff went 2 for 5 with 2 doubles and a walk for Scranton. The 29-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and a runner on 1st, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring double off Earl Simmons. It was his 21st double of the season.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Dave Lee said.
