Vancouver starter Ambrose Randall pitched effectively against the Portland Evergreens at Evergreen Park. The right-hander led his team to a 5-2 win. Sjaak Bonne earned the save for Vancouver, his 14th of the year. Vancouver is now 47-44, Portland 52-39.
Had Michael Ward not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Ward hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Grey Wolves.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Randall.
