The Santa Barbara Golden Cranes picked up a win at Crane Field, knocking off the Jersey City Tritons, 2-1. Starting pitcher Gustavo Pérez was an essential part of his team's success. In 7 innings, Pérez surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. The first-place Golden Cranes have a one-game lead in their division.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and two out in the bottom of the sixth inning. That's when right fielder Rubén Alvarado hit a double. The Golden Cranes went on to win.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Pérez told reporters after the game.
