Longnecks Get Past Calgary for 2-1 Win
|
It was a fun time at Lookouts Ballpark, where the Calgary Lynx and Bloomington Longnecks tangled.
The Calgary Lynx got a sterling performance from pitcher Lorenzo Díaz, but the Longnecks still prevailed, 2-1. Díaz was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. Bloomington reliever Steve Wortley was credited with the win, to go to 5-2. Lorenzo Díaz took the loss for Calgary. Dermot Eridge earned his 6th save in 9 chances.
Had Richello Mabait not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Mabait hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Longnecks.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Mabait said after the game.
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Bloomington.
