Big Day for Ward as Lynx Down Tritons, 8-0
|
Calgary right fielder Michael Ward was instrumental in his team's 8-0 win over the Jersey City Tritons. Ward, who is tied for 4th in the PAAA in hits with 73, went 4-5 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Lynx. Lorenzo Díaz, who went 6.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with no runs on 6 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 7-4. Calgary is now 37-27.
Ward had a key at-bat for Calgary early in the game. With a runner on 1st, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and gave Calgary an early 2-0 lead.
"We'll savor this win," Ward told the Calgary Daily News, "then get ready for the next game."
