Black Sox Continue Skid Thanks to Mays, Longnecks
|
The Bloomington Longnecks bested the Baltimore Black Sox, 5-3, at Lookouts Ballpark. Mike Mays was named player of the game. He was 4 for 4 with 4 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Tony DeWitt was the winner. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 1 run on 7 hits, with no walks and 5 strikeouts. Mark Zaugg picked up the save, his 15th.
Mays had an important at-bat with runners on 1st and 3rd in the bottom of the fourth, when he hit a 2-run single. The Longnecks went on to win.
"Some of the guys in here work hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Mays told the Bloomington Citizen.
The 8th-place Black Sox have lost 4 straight games.
