Rainbow Mermaids Sink Grey Wolves, 8-6
The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids had to overcome a big game from Vancouver designated hitter Michael Ward to leave Wolf Den in Vancouver with a 8-6 victory. Ward went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. Northern Virginia reliever Mat Tengku was the winner. His record is now 3-5. Roy Shively took the loss. The Rainbow Mermaids move to 33-53 with the win, while the Grey Wolves drop to 44-42.

Northern Virginia used the timely hitting of Steven Rohrs to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Rainbow Mermaids on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Northern Virginia skipper David Lister.
