Bowties Knock Off Evergreens at Evergreen Park
|
The Portland Evergreens got a superb performance from left fielder Shahid Afridi, but the Buckhead Bowties still won the game, 7-6. Afridi was named the player of the game despite the loss. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 3 runs. David Buchanan got the win, improving to 7-4. He held the Evergreens to 4 earned runs on 5 hits over 5.2 innings, while striking out 4 and walking 3. Brian Fixel, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 2nd save.
Richard Jost, who is rated as the 9th best prospect by BNN, contributed to the Buckhead win with a 3-run home run in the top of the third. For the game, the shortstop had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 runs batted in.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said Portland manager Imran Baig. "The effort was great."
Buckhead now has a 3-game win streak.
