Longnecks Nip Tritons, 3-2
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Bloomington Longnecks eventually prevailed at Lookouts Ballpark.
The Bloomington Longnecks got a stellar performance from pitcher Tony DeWitt, who handcuffed the Jersey City offense en route to a 3-2 win at Lookouts Ballpark. DeWitt got the win, improving to 1-2. He allowed 6 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. DeWitt allowed 2 earned runs.
The Longnecks got a big at-bat from left fielder Eun-bum Kim. For the game, Kim was 1-3 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Bloomington a 3-1 lead.
DeWitt told a Bloomington Citizen reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
The Tritons fall to 6-7 and continue their uneasy start to the 2034 season.
