Singletary hits 2 home runs, Fighting Dachsunds Move to 9-4
|
Fans who gathered at Lynx Stadium saw a good contest between the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds and Calgary Lynx.
In a close game at Lynx Stadium, the Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds edged the Calgary Lynx, 4-3. Ellenburg second baseman Norm Singletary earned the nod as player of the game. He hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Ellenburg reliever Denis Melis picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. José Larranaga was collared with the loss.
Singletary contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Ellenburg in the top of the ninth. With his team trailing 3-2, Singletary took a fastball from José Larranaga and stroked the home run to left. His 2nd home run of the season allowed the Fighting Dachsunds to leap in front, 4-3.
"We'll enjoy this win," said Singletary. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."
The win gives the Fighting Dachsunds a record of 9-4.
