BC Nip Rails, 5-4
|
Both teams had their chances, but the San Antonio BC eventually prevailed at San Antonio Field.
In a close game at San Antonio Field, the San Antonio BC edged the Richland Rails, 5-4. San Antonio third baseman Silverberry Mouhon earned the nod as player of the game. He went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Liam Sorrell was the winning pitcher. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 11 hits, with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts. Salvador Villegas converted his 6th save in 10 tries.
Mouhon had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-0 fastball from Jing Hsi, he banged a grand slam home run to left, giving the BC a 4-2 lead. It was the 11th home run of the year for Mouhon.
In postgame comments to the San Antonio Gazette, Mouhon said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The Rails, now 34-67, have lost 4 in a row.
