Polar Bears Lose Again, 4-2, to Nationals
|
Billings pitcher Roberto Roque gave the Nationals all they could handle, but in the end, Ottawa left The Igloo with a 4-2 win. Roque allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits over 5.2 innings. Stanley Kent picked up the win, improving his season record to 2-1. He struck out 6 in 6.1 innings. Walid bin Amid was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 1 save opportunities.
Tied up with the Polar Bears in the top of the fourth inning, the Nationals got a boost from third baseman Manuel Vroonland. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Vroonland saw a 2-2 fastball from Paco Rojas and hit a 2-run double to break the stalemate and put Ottawa on top, 2-0.
In postgame remarks, Vroonland said: "To all who've been doubting my effort -- I hope they saw this game."
Billings, at 51-47, has lost 7 straight.
