Loss to Misfits Extends San Antonio Losing Streak
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of the 23-year old shortstop Jean Couturier, the Salem Misfits stopped the San Antonio BC, 5-2. Andrés Canó got the win, improving to 3-1. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 7 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 5 and walking 3. Jagger Rusconi earned the save for Salem, his 9th of the year.
Couturier contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Salem in the bottom of the fourth. With his team trailing 1-0, Couturier took a fastball from Jackson Williams and stroked the home run to left-center. His 13th home run of the season allowed the Misfits to leap in front, 2-1.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Couturier said.
San Antonio has now lost 8 straight.
