Rails Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Highlanders

The Richland Rails faced a tough opponent in Asheville pitcher Ernesto López, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Asheville Park by a final score of 4-2. López went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. The Highlanders, at 41-47, have lost 6 straight games.
Richland used the timely hitting of Hsui-chuan Hong to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Rails on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Hong. "And not try to do too much."
